Herning can offer foreign students unique study opportunities during their course of studies. The city has just over 83,000 inhabitants, and it is the second-largest city of further and higher education in the Central Jutland Region after the city of Aarhus. The educational establishments in Herning are known throughout Denmark for their ability to offer a unique partnership with companies. Students are given the opportunity to perform assignments in companies and to have a relevant student job (requires a work permit).
