ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation in Aarhus is hard to find, so be prepared for long lists and waiting. We advise you to book a place to live right after you have concluded the agreement with the school. Accommodation in Aarhus can be found through a special company called Kollegiekontoret in their dormitories, or in privately-owned flats. For more information visit Kollegiekontoret. The prices for student accommodation vary according to the type of room, to the location and to other amenities. Usually, the rent for a single room ranges from 1,400 to 3,000 DKK per month. The rent has to be paid in advance, at the beginning of each month.

It is quite likely that the dormitorie/room you rent contains no furniture, for it is customary in Denmark. In such case you have to hunt for it yourself. The best places for this are consignment sales; information can also be found on the Internet or you can just ask around. Sometimes you can get some pieces of furniture by simply agreeing to take them away from someplace. Dormitory basements might be a good place to look as well.
