Russia
Russia, or the Russian Federation, is the largest country in the world and is so vast that it has eleven time zones and a coastline of more than 23,000 miles. Known mostly for its natural resources, Russia has more than 100,000 rivers, and the world’s largest forest, and largest lake (Lake Baikal).
Russian is the predominant language, but more than 100 languages are spoken throughout the country. Russia is famous for the Bolshoi Ballet, dancers such Rudolf Nureyev and Anna Pavlova, classical music composers Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, and writers such as Tolstoy, Pushkin, and Dostoevsky. Russia is also known for its fine vodka and caviar. Moscow is the capital and largest city in Russia, followed by St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk. The Liden & Denz Language Centres in St. Petersburg and Moscow offer Russian language courses for academic, leisure or business purposes. These internationally accredited language schools combine excellent teaching with modern facilities and a competent organisation. It is their aim to familiarise all the students with today’s Russia, in terms of language, culturally and emotionally.

LIVING IN RUSSIA

In their free time, students in the Russian Federation can make use of a wide range of cultural activities. Student travel agencies will arrange trips which provide an insight into the history and geography of Russia. Museums and galleries will give students a greater understanding of the cultural and intellectual background of the country. Some theatres, museums and cinemas have student reductions. Cultural events will also be held on campus, usually free of charge or at a very low price, and such events provide a good opportunity for meeting Russian students and learning more about customs and traditions of Russia. Students will also find student amateur art and drama groups, student scientific societies and other groups.

WORKING WHILE STUDYING
Students may take up part-time employment in their spare time. Job opportunities are available on campus and through general employment agencies. The issue of work permits for foreign students is discussed with the relevant higher education institution and with the local authorities.

VISA
Excepting the citizens of some CIS countries, any non-Russian national wishing to enter the Russian Federation must bear a valid Russian visa.
Students have to apply for the visa at a visa department of a Russian Consulate or Embassy in their home country. LIDEN & DENZ will provide participants with a necessary letter of invitation.
Visa registration costs are included in the enrolment fee and payable together with the course and accommodation fees.
