Vlissingen

The town of Vlissingen is located in a beautiful environment on the southernmost peninsula called Walcheren and is a medium-sized tourist and student town with about 45.000 inhabitants.

Sun, sea and beach characterize this pleasant place with its special atmosphere. Because of its beautiful beaches, charming boulevard and many sidewalk cafés you might get a feeling like you were on a holiday.

Its beautiful promenade, its cultural life and its bubbling night-life offer plenty of possibilities for an enjoyable stay! And all this within walking and cycling distance from a spectacular coastline that offers a choice of maritime sports like sailing, windsurfing and kiting.

The town has a friendly and special atmosphere, which ensures you will have a good time during your studies. Naturally, you will meet students from the Netherlands, but you will also make friends with other foreign students who have chosen to come and study in Vlissingen.

If you like to go out and are interested in culture, there also are enough opportunities. There are different student associations that organize numerous activities and parties, like the Cultural Dining Club and the Cult Club.
Vlissingen has a bustling night-life; apart from weekends Thursday-evening is very popular time to go out. Also a lot of events, festivals and open-air concerts are organized, like Liberation Day (May 5) and the film festival Film by the Sea.

If you like sports, there are numerous possibilities. Especially water sports like (kite)surfing, rowing, sailing and swimming are popular. There are special student sports clubs who organize a lot of activities like participation in big soccer-, sailing- and volleyball-tournaments. Also they organize paragliding and mountaineering lessons and kite-surf workshops. Furthermore when you sign up as a member you will receive a discount card that you can use at a lot of sports and fitness clubs.

Finally another advantage is that accommodation is cheaper and much more easily found than in other student cities. Most students live in or near the city centre and housing is located on biking distance from school, city and beach. Other facilities like the library are also easily accessible.
