Chelmsford is the County town of Essex - the principal settlement of the borough of Chelmsford. It is located 51 km north east of Charing Cross in London. Chelmsford is steeped in history and was one of the original settlements in the UK. Residents of Chelmsford are known as 'Chelmsfordians'. The town has a population of approx 120,000 and still growing. It is a modern, well placed town that has a large number of commuters who work in the City of London financial sector.
